COMPANION ADMISSIONS
People come to live at Camphill Communities Ontario to build community. Persons with varying abilities live and work together, striving to create a home and a vocation. The land greatly influences our lives. We all work within our community and strive to find our meaningful vocation as land workers, craft people or homemakers. Inspired by the teachings of Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, we try to build an environment that supports each person's individual striving.

An adult who has a developmental disability can apply to become a resident at Camphill Communities Ontario. We welcome inquiries and visits to discuss residency possibilities. We also welcome individuals to tour the community. This can be arranged by calling our office at 705-424-5363.
If you are interested in the community for yourself, a friend or family member please call us at the above phone number or e-mail us at info@camphill.on.ca. We will send you a package and explore with you the possibilities of coming to Camphill.
The nature of the community—its physical layout, our open way of living together, the co-worker/companion ratio—makes some applicants not suitable for our living arrangements. The Village is not suited for people with profound physical disabilities, people with serious, chronic nursing needs or people with a primary diagnosis of mental illness. At the moment, we are not able to meet the needs of people who require one-on-one supervision or total physical care.
At the moment we have no openings available. You are welcome to put your name on our internal waiting list. Vacancies do sometimes occur. In the case of a spot coming available, we are required to look at people that are on the Simcoe County waiting list. In the event that we can not find a suitable candidate from the Simcoe County waiting list, we can look to our internal waiting list. The frequency of vacancies, however, is not predictable because the Village has reached optimal size and because many villagers have lived here for years and do not plan to leave. Families of prospective villagers are encouraged however to call the Camphill office to discuss the prospect of vacancies and whether or not Camphill is the right place and to be placed on our internal waiting list.
