VISION, MISSION AND VALUES OF CAMPHILL COMMUNITIES ONTARIO

Vision:
Camphill Communities Ontario will create social environments that enhance spiritual expression and quality of life with individuals of diverse abilities.

Camphill Communities Ontario wishes to invite other like-minded organizations, initiatives, and projects to share its property and to help create a multi-layered community experience for the benefit of all residents.

Mission:
Camphill Communities Ontario contributes to society by creating opportunities for people of all abilities to fulfill their potential through living, learning, and working in community.

Values:
1. Camphill Communities Ontario recognizes the commitment to Lifesharing.

Lifesharing supports the whole human being and happens best in living together as family, caring for, and supporting each other, and provides the following:
- continuity of care and a lifestyle designed to maximize health
- a learning process towards the greatest possible extent of independence
- relationship building
- security and safety for individuals with disabilities
- a sense of feeling at home
- an environment to develop social capabilities

2.  Camphill Communities Ontario is committed to Anthroposophy as a fundamental approach to
community life.

Anthroposophy, founded by Rudolf Steiner (1861 -1925), embraces the spiritual dimension of the human being by exploring the activity of the spirit in the depths of our own existence and the reality of the spirit in the world around us.  Around the world, thousands of people are engaged in working with principles set forth by Steiner in many fields, including agriculture, education, medicine, economics, social organization, architecture, the arts, and the humanities.

3.  Camphill Communities Ontario is committed to its membership in the worldwide Camphill Movement and the Camphill Association of  North America.

4. Camphill Communities Ontario is committed to environmentally-sound practices that promote the health and integrity of our homes, our land, and all who live here.

5. Camphill Communities Ontario welcomes persons of all abilities without discrimination on the basis of religion, sexual orientation, race, gender, colour, national, creed, or ethnic origin.

6. Camphill Communities Ontario recognizes the rights of the individual.

These rights include the right to:
- participate and contribute in all aspects of community life within both Camphill and the larger
community as a citizen with full rights.
- freely choose to be a member of Camphill Communities Ontario.
- self-determination as a meaningful way to be included in the decision-making process. Supports will be provided for personal choices that  direct the personal planning process.
- a community culture that safeguards human dignity in an environment free from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse of any kind.
- fill one’s daily life with meaningful work, meaningful dialogue and conversation, and meaningful cultural and educational  experiences.
- freedom of religious expression.
- choose complementary medical and therapeutic treatments.
- a safe, aesthetic, and personalized home.
