Job Opportunities

Working At Camphill

Camphill communities in Ontario and around the world offer a unique opportunity to individuals, couples or families wishing to be involved in a life-sharing community including adults with disabilities.

We live in households ranging in size from 4-9 people with each house functioning as a family unit.  These extended families share life with all of its responsibilities.  This unique approach to caregiving can prove challenging and also highly rewarding.

The focus of each staff person (known at Camphill as Co-workers)  is to support adults with special needs (Companions) in all aspects of their life (eg. social relationships, recreational activities, finance, health, running the household and administration).  Everyone is also encouraged to integrate into the community in other areas according to their interests and abilities (eg. arts, music, athletics, etc.).
A commitment of 11 months is preferred, but applications for shorter periods of time during the summer months will be considered. With locations on beautiful farmland in Southern Ontario and in the nearby City of Barrie, Camphill Communities Ontario offers a unique opportunity to live, learn and work full time with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
This includes:
- Full participation in all aspects of community life
- Hands-on experience in social therapy.
- Work in a variety of settings: gardening, farming, weaving and other crafts, artistic and cultural activities, household management, educational courses and workshops, recreational outings.
- Opportunity to travel to nearby places of interest: Toronto, Montreal, Niagara Falls, Algonquin Park

Our community is comprised of approximately 60 people including adults with intellectual disabilities. We are an international community with staff of all ages from countries around the world.
