Make a Difference

At Camphill we value our volunteers and are grateful for the ways in which they help shape our community. Volunteers:

-Provide valuable skills and companionship to ALL members of our community
-Enhance our community by bringing various perspectives, opinions, gifts, talents and energies
-Offer support to our staff, many of whom work in a lifesharing* capacity which means they work pretty much 24/7 and can often use a set of helping hands

*to learn more about lifesharing and Camphill Communities please enjoy the rest of our website!

Volunteer Opportunities

At Camphill, we aim to provide meaningful volunteer experiences where people of all abilities can learn new skills, develop friendships and grow in community. Some of the volunteer opportunities we offer are:

One-to-One Companion Buddies:
Companion buddies are just that, they are friends to adults with disabilities and provide assistance in the various areas of life where a little assistance may be required. Sometimes in the work programs, other times with reading a book, playing a game or simply having a good chat over a cup of coffee.

Workshop Assistants:
Camphill operates a number of workshops where our Companions (adults with intellectual disabilities) are able to learn valuable life skills. Work areas include: a pottery studio, fibre arts weavery, woodshop, land based activities (including sugar bush and a herd of Highland Beef Cattle), and an organic garden and greenhouse.

Culture, Recreation and Leisure:
In addition to the work programs, Camphill offers music, art, dance and other forms of cultural recreation and leisure. Volunteers who have a special gift or talent in one of these areas may wish to get involved with these programs.

Business Skills:
Volunteers who have specialized business skills or who are looking to practice skills might be interested in volunteering with our office staff assisting with our website, basic office work, fundraising or communications.

Special Events:
From time to time Camphill requires volunteers to assist with Special events such as conferences, fundraising events and our Spring and Fall Fairs.
